Energy

Energy is the capacity to perform work or generate heat. It exists in various forms, including kinetic (motion), potential (stored), thermal (heat), chemical (stored in bonds), electrical (due to electric charge), and nuclear (within atomic nuclei). Energy can be transformed from one form to another but cannot be created or destroyed, a principle known as the conservation of energy. It is a fundamental concept in physics and is essential for powering all processes in the universe, from biological functions to mechanical systems. In everyday life, energy is measured in joules or calories and is fundamental to everything from electricity and fuel to food and transportation.
