Americký fotbal, known as American football in English, is a popular team sport primarily played in the United States and Canada. It is characterized by two teams, each consisting of 11 players, who compete to score points by advancing a prolate spheroid ball into the opposing team’s end zone. Scoring can occur in several ways, including touchdowns, field goals, and extra points. The game is played on a rectangular field with end zones at each end.

Key features of American football include designated offensive, defensive, and special teams; a series of timed plays known as downs; and a combination of strategic passing and running plays.
